Fiscal Year Grants

St. Margaret Foundation Grantmaking for the Ill, Under Resourced and Suffering

Grants Made for Fiscal Year 2018

The St. Margaret Foundation Board of Directors voted to approve the following grant disbursements in support for valuable projects for fiscal year 2018.  St. Margaret Foundation announces $552,351 in grants in alignment with the organization's strategic priorities of: 1) Patient Access, 2) Patient Education and 3) Patient Experience.

"The changing landscape of healthcare coverage has left many people anxious and at risk," said Mary Lee Gannon, president. "If you have cancer we don't want you to worry about transportation to your chemotherapy. We have four shuttles to help." The Foundation's board of directors is dedicated to the organization's motto of 'Filling in the gaps with hope' "In a flash your health can turn into the biggest challenge of your life," said Ms. Gannon. "Our donors have answered the call of their neighbors in their hour of need. "

Above and Beyond Awards

Our May 2011 Above & Beyond recipients
April 9, 2010

Pictured above are some of the 5A Nursing Unit Staff after getting their Above and Beyond Award.  The entire unit was honored on behalf of Diane Corr, St. Margaret Employee.

St. Margaret Foundation's Angels of Health program and UPMC St. Margaret's Above & Beyond program merged to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary individuals who are raising the bar in patient care at UPMC St. Margaret. Patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and volunteers can recognize a special member of our staff - their 'angel of health' - who made a difference in their hospital experience. Those submitting a nomination will have the opportunity to make a donation to the Foundation in a staff member's honor.
Most donors include an explanation of how the employee went 'Above and Beyond'.
Karen was a very kind and caring caregiver.  She did everything possible to make me comfortable.  She was always so upbeat, and very efficient in completing her tasks.  Kudos to her!

The following employees have been recognized as Above & Beyond ‘angels' in March 2011:

March:
  • Jane Dukovic, Lawrenceville Family Health Center
  • Donna Kunkle, Lawrenceville Family Health Center
  • Christine Montgomery, Environmental Services
