Dr. Marshall Stafford, St. Margaret physician and foundation board member, explains why he is a donor to St. Margaret Foundation and the impact the foundation programs have on patients in need.

Choose the Fund You Would Like to Support:

Greatest Impact Fund: St. Margaret Foundation has three areas of focus: 1) Patient Access, 2) Patient Education and 3) Patient Experience. Four shuttles transport patients to chemotherapy, their doctors’ offices and other hospital treatments. We also provide a patient food pantry, free medication, medical devices and health screenings for under-resourced patients.

Family Health Centers Fund: St. Margaret has three family health centers in the under-resourced communities of Lawrenceville, Bloomfield Garfield and New Kensington where the Foundation helps with transportation to appointments, medication, Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid addiction, medical devices, behavioral health services and more.

Rod Rutkowski Bed Fund: This serves as an emergency fund for under-resourced patients for medical equipment, prescription medication, transportation, interpreters, temporary nursing care, etc.

Employee Emergency Fund: This supports our valued employees during a pandemic, natural disaster, fire, or acute medical illness. Also eligible are employees who have received a shut off or eviction notice from a utility company, a mortgage company or landlord or are two months behind on these bills. Funeral and travel expenses for the death of a spouse, child, or parent are also covered.

Family Emergency Fund: This serves as an emergency fund for families of under-resourced patients. The Foundation provides assistance with food, transportation, and home necessities to those who need it most as they support their loved one during an uncertain time.

Memorial/Honor Gift: We will send a beautiful personalized honor/memorial card to your loved one, friend or health care professional recognizing a special person when you donate to this or any fund. Simply choose ‘Dedicate my donation in honor or in memory of someone.’

Poinsettias for Patients: The holidays are a difficult time to be in the hospital and away from your family. Make our patients smile.A poinsettia may be delivered to patients admitted to St. Margaret Hospital during the month of December for a donation of $40 or three poinsettias may be delivered for a donation of $100.

School of Nursing Student Fund: Most students in the St. Margaret School of Nursing are adult students who are trying to launch a second career. Many have children and can barely keep up with their studies, work and family. Help them with books, certification fees, and scholarships with a donation to this fund.

Memorial/Honor Hope Garden – Wind Spinner: You may honor or memorialize a loved one for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Memorial Day with a vibrant colored wind spinner that we personalize and place in the hospital courtyard from May until June. You may even take it home.

Brian Demchak Hope Run 5K: Donations to this fund support our annual 5K race in May and our under-resourced patients with free transportation, medication, medical devices and more.
